How the 2015 Standards ensure VET graduates are job-ready

  • To ensure VET graduates are job-ready, the Standards focus on ensuring industry influences how VET is delivered in Australia. RTOs must engage with industry when developing training and assessment strategies and ensure their trainers and assessors hold current industry skills and knowledge.
  • The Standards specify that trainers and assessors are skilled VET practitioners with current industry skills and knowledge, so learners receive the training they need and graduates are properly assessed before being issued with a qualification or statement of attainment.
  • The Standards ensure RTOs provide sufficient, accurate information to allow learners to make sound choices. Ethical and accurate marketing is very important and learners must be provided with as much information as possible before enrolment to enable them make a decision on where to train. This information includes information such as fees, all charges, length of the course, work placement requirements, code of conduct, job outcomes, complaints process, refund process, class times etc.
